SIDE QUEST COMPANY

Privacy Policy

Side Quest Company takes privacy seriously. The website is designed around data minimisation: processing as little information as possible and only where useful for operating the website, keeping it secure, or understanding its general use.

Side Quest Company does not use behavioural advertising, does not sell personal data, and does not seek to build individual profiles of its visitors.

1. Data controller

The controller responsible for data processing related to this website is:

Pascal Paratte
Side Quest Company
Chemin de la Gravière 5A
1225 Chêne-Bourg
Switzerland
contact@sidequest-company.com

Side Quest Company is the name under which Pascal Paratte presents this independent game studio project. It is not, at this stage, a separate legal entity.

2. Hosting

The website is hosted in Switzerland by:

Infomaniak Network SA
Rue Eugène-Marziano 25
1227 Les Acacias (GE)
Switzerland

The hosting provider may process technical data required to provide, secure and maintain its services, including server logs.

3. Technical logs

When the website is visited, the hosting infrastructure may automatically process technical information such as the IP address, date and time, requested resource, browser or operating system. This information is primarily used to operate, secure and diagnose the website. Side Quest Company does not use it for advertising or profiling. Retention and handling of certain technical logs may depend on the hosting provider.

4. Privacy-first in-house audience measurement

Side Quest Company uses a small audience measurement system built directly into the website. It does not use a third-party analytics service and does not set tracking cookies.

Its purpose is limited to a general picture of traffic: page views, estimated visitors, most viewed pages and articles, approximate country of origin, and filtering some bots and crawlers. The system does not create individual profiles or seek to recognise a person from one day to the next.

5. Temporary processing of the IP address

To produce these statistics, the server may briefly process the IP address received with a request. It is used only to determine an approximate country with a local database and to generate a pseudonymised technical identifier valid only for that day.

This identifier uses limited technical information including the IP address, User-Agent, current date and a secret held by the server. Raw IP addresses and raw User-Agent strings are not stored in analytics tables. The temporary identifier expires within a maximum of 48 hours and is not used to build an individual history.

6. Geolocation

Location is limited to an approximate country. The database is queried locally and the visitor’s IP address is not sent to an external geolocation API for each visit. No city, street address, postal code, GPS coordinate or precise location is stored.

7. Statistics retained

Retained analytics are aggregated and may include a date, page or content type, page language, country code, page views, and estimated visitors or readers. They are retained for a maximum of 24 months under the current configuration and are not used for advertising, profiling or data resale.

8. Bots and crawlers

Side Quest Company applies reasonable filters to avoid counting certain robots, search engines, automated preloads and link preview services. These filters cannot perfectly identify every bot, so figures should be treated as general traffic estimates.

9. Cookies and local storage

The in-house analytics system does not use tracking cookies. The website may use strictly necessary mechanisms for form security, administrative sessions or CSRF protection.

The small “Privacy First” notice uses sessionStorage only to avoid showing repeatedly during a browser session. It disappears at the end of the session and is not used for analytics or profiling.

10. Contact

When you contact Side Quest Company by email or through the form, information you voluntarily provide — your name, email address and message — is used only to process your request and reply.

By default, the form does not permanently store a copy of the message in the website database. It forwards the message to the studio’s contact address. Email correspondence is retained only as long as needed to handle the request, subject to applicable legal requirements.

11. Third-party services and embedded content

The initial website does not include advertising pixels or marketing trackers. If external services are added later — embedded video, social platforms or marketing tools — this policy must be updated before activation and consent requirements reassessed.

12. International data transfers

The in-house analytics system runs within the website hosting environment and is not intended to transmit audience data to an external analytics provider. Other technical processing may rely on providers described here. This section will be updated if the scope changes.

13. Your rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to request information about personal data relating to you, correction, deletion, or to object to certain processing where such a right applies.

For privacy questions or to exercise your rights: contact@sidequest-company.com

14. Changes to this policy

This policy may change if the website, its tools or data processing activities evolve. The “Last updated” date identifies the current version.
